The Cheyenne County Community Center started operations in March of 1992.  The facility was built with private donations from citizens of Cheyenne County along with grants from foundations.  On the 8th of August in 1988 of group of individuals formed a foundation for the sole purpose of constructing a recreational and fitness community center. This group created the foundation so that private citizens would have the benefit of a tax deductible donation to help build the community center.  The goal of the foundation continues to be to accrue monies in the form of charitable gifts programs to eventually have enough funds in the foundation to help offset the operational cost of the community center, provided for expansions of the facility and to provide grants and scholarships to individuals and other worthy organizations causes.
